Q

How does meiosis work?

A

The cell duplicates the genetic information and arranges itself into pairs
The pairs are pulled apart (cell divides) and some of the fathers and mothers chromosomes go into each cell
In the second division the chromosomes line up before being pulled apart which creates 4 genetically different cells

Q

Advantages of sexual reproduction

A

Variation in species
Can become more adapted to the environment
More disease resistant
Allows natural selection

Q

What are characteristics alos influenced by?

A

The environment that the organism lives and grows in
(e.g. plants with more sunlight are taller and greener in comparison to plants with less light)
