Hinton et al, EVJ, 2019 did a retrospective review of castration complications using the Henderson castrator. What did they find?

27/252 horses had complications (10.7%). Most were mild (seroma 56%, mild swelling 26%).

There were no cases of post-operative haemorrhage.

Older horses were significantly more likely to develop a complication (OR 13% I.e with every additional year, risk of developing a complication increased by 13%).
