A
- Electing members of parliament to make decisions and pass legislation on behalf of eligible voters is a fundamental component of our system
- At the subsequent election, residents have the option of electing new representatives if they don’t think their current ones are doing a good job

- 151 Members chosen from equal size electorates from across Australia
- The House’s central function and the one which takes up most of its time is the consideration and passing of new laws and amendments or changes to existing laws
- Any Member can introduce a proposed law (bill) but most are introduced by the Government

A
- 12 members from each State and 2 members from each territory
- The Senate is able to scrutinise and judge the activities, policies, and legislation of the government
