Define designated safeguarding lead and their responsibilities.
Responsible for making sure that children protection files are kept up to date and are also in control of safeguarding concerns, they should keep files up to date,report concerns to authorities, reporting to mash.
Define a child at risk.
A child who is more likely to be t risk of abuse.
How is a child’s classified as at risk.
Having factors of abuse eg. Individual, parental and environmental factors.
What a child protection plan?
Plan organised and reviewed every 6 months.
Targets are set for parents and professionals.
Time frames are given.
How do we recognise abuse.
Be alert
Know your children’s families and where abuse is more likely.

When do i report a safeguarding concern?
As soon as possible.
Who do I report safeguarding concerns to?
A senior member of staff
Designated safeguarding lead.
Why should we record/ write down safeguarding concerns?
So all practitoners are aware of the circumstances and can see the bigger person.
Protect the child and yourself.
Write details and exact words down
Helps in court if needed.
Helps notice patterns of abuse.
What is an escillaion policy?
A list of professional that you can report a concern to.
There just in case a professional doesn’t take the safeguarding issue seriously you can tell others that are listed.
What is mash?
Multi agency safeguarding hub.
What is mash?
All professionals in one building ready to access safeguarding concerns this mean that communication will be easier via different agencies eg. NHS,police and social services. Allows all the pieces to be connected. Making the child’s case be sorted quicker.
Mash RAG RATING
Red- immediately concern/data- dealt with in 4 hours.
Amber-child is in significant harm-dealt with in 24 hours.
Green-cause of concern-dealt with in 3 days.
