Public health England.
Are the public health England 8 principles compulsory?
Yes but not in early years only primary secondary and further education.
What is the purpose of the public health England’s 8 principles.
To be able to support children’s mental health in a confined narrowed down way.
Principle 1- an ethos and environment that promotes respect and values diversity.
Community that accepts everybody eg. SEND. You should value diversity-racism, sexism and homophobia. Always be inclusive.
Principle 2- curriculum,teaching and learning to promote resilience and support social and emotional learning.
Must have time in the curriculum to support social and emotional learning not just maths, English and science.
Principle 3 - enabling student voice to influence decisions.
Having a student council, surveys and what students like. Eg. Vote for what they want to play with.
Principle 4- staff development to support their own wellbeing and that of students.
Team building days, staff enrichment and training and help lines for children.
Principle 5- identify need and monitoring impact of interventions.
Identify the need of the child and act upon it monitor if the action has helped or of further improvement is needed.
Principle 6- working with parents and careers.
Sharing information to work together so the child can have the most support possible.
Principle 7- targeted support and appropriate referral.
Asking other practitoners for help other people may be able to help the child more than you can.
Principle 8- leadership and management that supports and champions effort to promote emotional health and wellbeing.
A team coming together to provide the teacher and children with what they need.
