- Accidental discharge of a firearm during a law enforcement operation.
- A firearm discharge resulting in death or serious bodily injury.
- a non-injury or property damage intentional discharge of a firearm incident(which includes discharging at anything other than a person, such as a dog).
- When shots are fired outside the firearm’s range, excluding off-duty situations such as hunting or participating in competitive shooting. When a firearm is discharged at a human and/or an animal in self-defense or to humanely euthanize an animal, CIRT will complete the Firearm Discharge Report.
- When a resident officer discharges a firearm at an animal either in self-defense or to humanely euthanize the animal, the resident officer will complete the Firearm Discharge Report.
