what is the purpose of DNA replication?
A
so when cell division occurs the daughter cell inherits an identical copy of DNA

what is DNA polymerase?
A
an enzyme that adds new nucleotides to a growing strand of DNA.

what is a primer?
A
short strands of nucleotides which binds to the 3’ of DNA to allow DNA polymerase to add nucleotides

why is the lagging strand synthesised in fragments?
A
because nucleotides cannot be added 5’ end because DNA polymerase can only add DNA nucleotides in a 5’ to 3’ direction.
