What is distraction osteogenesis

A
  • osteotomy (location and direction) - cutting the bone
  • latency - soft callous formation 7-10 days
  • distraction (vector, rate and rhythm) - can separate 2 ligaments apart
    • 1mm a day - rate
    • half 1mm in morning and other half in afternoon
  • consolidation - 2-3 months
  • remodeling
