- Spironolactone and amiloride
- Monitor K for hyperkalemia

- Suffixes: -nide and -mide
- Monitor for low K
- Administer slowly or can cause ototoxicity
- Furosemide is very potent

A
Potassium-wasting
- Suffix: -thiazide
- AE: low K, low Na, Increase uric acid, increase BS

Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate (keyaxelate)
A
- Potassium binders
- Tx mild hyperkalemia
- Helps remove extra K through stool
- Doesn’t affect Na!

Phenazopyridine
A
- Analgesic
- To tx symptoms associated with UTI
- Body fluids may turn red/orange
- NOT an antibiotic

Anticholinergic/Antispasmodic
A
- Anticholinergics/antispasmodics
- Tx overactive bladder, decreases urgency, frequency, and nocturne and urinary incontinence
- oxybutynin, tolterodine, solifenacin
- SE: Can’t see, spit, pee, poop, think
- Cautious of hot weather d/t decreased sweat production (potential for hyperthermia)

Epoetin Alfa (EPO)
A
Erythropoiesis-stimuating agents
- Tx anemia associated with CKD
- Start is Hgb < 10 and stop when Hgb >11 or uncontrolled HTN
- AE: HTN, venous thromboembolism (blood thickens d/t high concentration RBCs)
- Iron supplements may also be prescribed
- Admin 3 times per week subs or IV through a dialysis line
