What is renal amyloidosis?
A
- hereditary disorder - autosomal dominant
- misfolded proteins (amyloid) accumulates in the kidney
- causes proteinuria and/or hypertension followed by progressive kidney failure
- depending on the specific genotype it can affect other organs such as GI tract, liver, spleen, heart and skin
