NSAIDs - diclofenac or ibuprofen (HEART NEEDS CHECKING)

IV Paracetamol

Alpha blockers - smooth muscle relaxation

- tamsulosin/ alfuzosin

- Watch and wait with pain relief
- Medical expuslive management (alpha blocker) if less than 10mm
- Surgical management - shockwave lithotripsym percutaneous nephrolithotomy, uretoscopy, open surgery

Urine dip
U& e - kidney function
Non-contrast KUB
USS for pregnant women and children
What size of stone is usually safe for natural passage?
<5mm
What is shockwave lithotripsy?
Passage of shock c waves that break down the stone

Xanthine stone RADIOLUCENT
What stone gives a ground glass appearance?
