what is achilles tendinopathy

A

inflammatio of the tendon

symptoms:
- posterior heel pain after use of ankle
-morning stiffness/weakness

management:
- simple analgesia
- rest
- physiotherapy for calf exercises either self-guided or with physio

A

rupture of the tendon

symptoms:
- acute sudden pain
-‘pop’ sound
- simmonds triad test

(patient lie prone, calf muscle to se any deviating muscles seen, dorsiflexion may be seen and when squeezing calves the foot that’s injured will remain still)

investigation:
- ultrasound

management:
- simple analgesia, cast and physio
