- Collected works edition - presents an engraved edition of the work in its original format.
- Performance edition - presents an historically-informed modern score.

Three ways that modern editors have dealt with the lack of measures (bar lines) in Renaissance Music
A
- Adding time signature and bar lines.
- No stated time signature is used but dotted bar lines are used.
- Variabar - No time signature is used but bar lines vary in the score from part to part as the music dictates.
