French for “Fat Tuesday”
A reference to the fact that Mardi Gras is always the day before Ash Wedesday

Spanish for Carnaval, celebrated as last day before lent

Pancakes- a day of indulgence and uses up many of the dairy products that are likely to go bad during lent

King Cake- decorated with purple, green, and gold sugar. Purple represents justice, green represents faith, and gold represents power.
Dirty Rice- symbolizes mixture of sins with purity that Jesus died to cleanse
