Q

Why did people think the world was flat?

A

Three reasons!

  1. Their senses seemed to suggest it - when they looked to the horizon the earth seemed flat (you have to go a mile into the air to see the curve of the earth).
  2. It is easier to see us as the centre of everything - it gives humans meaning and explaination.
  3. The truth is unbelievable - we are spinning at 1,000 mph and travelling around the sun at 67,000 mph!!
