Reliability Flashcards
define test retest reliability
same people/group asked to take the research measure on different occasions the 2 different results are then correlated
define inter-observer reliability
the extent to which 2 or more observers are observing and recording behaviour in a consistent way. they observe separately to void bias then correlate results to see if they are suitability similar
define internal validity
a measure of whether the results obtained are affected only by the IV
define external validity
measure whether data can be generalised to other situations outside of the research environment
define temporal validity (external)
extent to which research findings can be applied overtime
define ecological validity (external)
extent to which psychologists can apply their findings to other settings, how generalisable the findings are to the real world
define face validity
method to test validity- measure of whether it looks subjectively promising that the tool is measuring what it should be measuring
