Punishers
Reduce likelihood of behaviour
Positive Punishment

Primary Reinforcer
Unconditioned reinforcer Eg: food
Secondary Reinforcer
Conditioned reinforcer Eg: money to buy food
Immediate Reinforcement
Eg: given a glass of wine right now for sitting down to listen to lecture
Delayed Reinforcement
Eg: friends treat you to drinks after the final exam as a reward
What is special about delayed reinforcers?
Under control or rules
Don’t work well for young children or animals
Intrinsic Reinforcer
Reinforced by behaviour itself Eg: Swimming is fun
