What is the regulatory and legislative framework?
A collection of laws, regulations and rules put in by the government agencies to ensure compliance. These exist to protect employees involved in manufacturing and in the workplace.
What are the three main regulatory and legislative frameworks?
Health and safety at work Act (HASAW)
personal protective equipment at work regulations (PPE)
Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
What are the employers expected to do in the regulatory and legislative frameworks?
Ensure that the workplace is safe and free of any risks to health
Provide welfare facilities and services
Dangerous items + substances are stored securely
Provide information, training or supervision regarding Health and Safety
What does it mean by (COSHH)?
Control of substances hazardous of health.
States that hazardous materials should be stored and used correctly.
What happens if someone is exposed to the hazardous materials in (COSHH)?
Asthma
Eye irritation
Chronic lung disease
Rashes or other skin problems
Other complaints from inhalation of fumes
