A refrigerant register must be kept identifying the refrigerant containing equipment at each location. What specific data is required for each item of equipment?
Type of Gas. Size of gas charge (in kg). input power rating of the machine (KW)
Is refrigerant containing equipment required to be leak tested?
Yes all equipment must be leak tested every 12 months and records must be kept. Volumes of gas added must be recorded too.
Can I repair a refrigerator which uses R22 refrigerant gas?
Yes but only if the repair does not involve re gassing the unit. From 1st Jan 2015 it is illegal to use any new, reclaimed or recycled R22.
Why is there so much concern for the management of refrigerant gases?
Refrigerant gas is a significant ozone depleter, and as such contributes to global warming. By managing its use and leakage we are improving our environment now and for the future.
