Reflection And Fraction Flashcards
What does the law of reflection state
Angle of incidence equals angle of reflection
What is the normal
An imaginary line at 90 degrees to the surface
Specular reflection
Reflection from a smooth flat surface like a flat mirror.
Diffuse reflection and what happens
Reflection on a rough surface. It forms reflected light scattering in all directions forming a distorted imagine of an object or none at all
Refraction
The change in direction of a wave at such a boundary
How does refraction work
The density of a material affects the speed a wave transmits through it: rhe denser the material the more slowly light travels through it. Glass is denser than air so a light ray passing into glass slows down and the ray meets at an angle to the normal so bends towards the normal
