Gas Particles Flashcards
What is the particle motion in gases like ?
Particles and a gas are moving very quickly and random directions. The speeds may vary but on average they move quicker than they do in liquids and solids. This means does not take long to spread out to fill its container.
What is pressure?
The force exerted over an area.
Greater the pressure means greater the what?
Greater the force exerted over the same area
How can you calculate pressure?
Pressure= force/area
What is pressure measure in?
Newtons per metre squared (N/m*2)
What is force measured in?
Newtons
What does the pressure of a gas do if it’s temperature increases?
The pressure increases
What type of relationship is between pressure and temperature?
Directly proportional
What happens to the pressure as volume is decreased?
Pressure increases
What is the relationship between volume and pressure?
Inversely proportional
What’s the equation for a fixed mass of gas at constant temp? And what are their units
Pressure x volume= constant. Pressure in pascals and volume in metres cubed
What is the calculation that relates force, distance and work done?
Work done= force x distance
Mechanical work transfers, energy from the persons or machine store of chemical energy to the what energy store of the gas?
Internal
