Q

how does a salt bridge work?

A

-salt bridge counteracts charge imbalances by allowing ions to migrate:
Negative ions from the salt bridge move into the oxidation half-cell.
Positive ions from the salt bridge move into the reduction half-cell.
This prevents charge build-up, which would otherwise stop the cell reaction.
