What is Conscience?

A

For Christians, the voice of God in the heart and soul of a person. God through the Holy Spirit guides the person to make the correct decision but the more someone goes against this (sin) the more they block out their conscience.

A

Sin is the rejection of the will of God. All humans are born with the tendency to reject God, commit sin.

What does St Irenaeus’ teach on salvation?

A

Salvation is part of God’s plan for human beings. He uses the metaphor between Adam and Jesus, humans were lost by taking the fruit from the tree and where saved by Jesus dying on the cross. This helps show the parralles between the fall of Adam and Jesus’ death.

What does St Anselm’s teachings on Salvation?

A

Anselm says that the only way to make up to God from not showing him Honour is to be totally obidient to God. He uses the metaphor that Jesus’ obidience ‘paid a randsom’ for the sins of all humans, he is refering to the slave trade.

A

People do not like his Ransom metaphor as they question who the ransom is paid to, implying that there is someone greater than God. However he is refering to paying back God his honour
