Walt
Walt, Las Brisa, Sonoma Coast, Pinot Noir, 2021
10 Months in 30% New French Oak (François Frères)
This is dripping with fruit, as raspberry, mulberry and plum compote notes roll through, along with sweet spice and red licorice accents. Reveals just enough brambly energy underneath to keep things honest. For fans of the style, though.
An arresting fruit quality and complex layering of flavors lend great interest to this appealing, well-balanced wine. Rhubarb, sour cherry and orange pekoe tea aromas lead to vivid black cherries and warm, subtle spices like cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg
Jammy and a lingering finish. deliciously light, crisp

Super Tuscan
Antinori, Guando al Tasso, Il Bruciato, Bolgheri, Super Tuscan, 2022
Antinori was one of the pioneers in Bolgheri where Super Tuscans produce exotic red blends like no other region in Italy.
Aromas of sage and currants with blackberries follow through to a full body with intense, round tannins that are nicely crafted. Fresh, flavorful finish. Some dried herbs at the end with a slightly grilled-meat undertone.
Dark berries are first on the nose, followed by savory undertones and a stony saltiness. Berries carry over to the palate, while undertones shift sweeter and more citrusy, before a spicy nuttiness emerges on the finish. Balanced tannins and acidity provide warmth
An opaque purple blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, the 2022 Il Bruciato is luxurious with notes of blackberry liqueur and some blue fruit coming through along with notes of violets, olive, and black licorice. Full-bodied, with a weightless and seamless feel, it has no harsh edges and offers ripe tannins with a supple texture, fresh acidity, and clean ripeness through a rather long finish. This gorgeous wine checks a lot of boxes and is drinking beautifully now. It offers a lot of finesse as well as a wide drinking window

Red Schooner
Red Schooner by Caymus, Transit 3, Australia, Red Blend, N.V.
Red Schooner Transit 3: A blend of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro, delivering a basked of ripe farmer’s market fresh berries, chocolate-covered strawberry and mint, with soft tannins and lush, boysenberry and even hinting at apricot fruit. Stunning.
Bold dark fruit (blackberry with plum), oaky with vanilla and slightly peppery tannins
This very dark ruby colored GSM from Australia opens with a blackberry and black pepper bouquet with hints of black cherry and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round and fresh with concentrated fruit. The flavor profile is a drunken cherry and black licorice blend with notes of cedar and blackberry. I also detected some hints of black pepper, clove, and nutmeg. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and tannins stick around for a very long time. I would drink this bold GMS on its own by the fireplace this winter. With food, I would pair it with a sharp cheddar cheese.
Our “Red Wine of the World,” is a red blend is sourced from famed regions of southern Australia, the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Consisting of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro, Transit 3 is bold yet nuanced. Vibrant nose with scents of berry basket, chocolate covered strawberries and fresh mint. Intense strawberry/raspberry on palate, along with ripe apricot. Extremely soft tannins give the spotlight to lush, bright fruit.
