RED- Questions Flashcards
Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (JME) (Janz)
Facts about JME:
- Epilepsy of janz
- Occurs early in the morning
- 4 to 5 hz generalized spike and wave
- 12 to 18 years of age
Partial Seizure Disorder
Anterior Temporal Spike focus
Complex Partial
Facts about Complex Partial:
- EEG important during sleep
- Deja Vu
- Automatisms( unconscious behavior: lip smacking) and impaired consciousness
- Temporal Rhythmic Theta activity
GTC
Tonic phase- Generalized voltage suppression and muscle artifact
1. low voltage rhythmic beta
Clonic phase- generalized rhythmic spike and slow wave
postictal- generalized slowing
Benign Rolandic Epilepsy
Rolandic Epilepsy
Benign Childhood epilepsy with Central/Temporal spikes BCECTS
Absence Seizure
15 seconds average
Normal activity postictal
Temporal Epileptiform Discharges
Most common EEG correlate with epileptic aura
Electrographic seizure
characterized by episodic rhythmic activity
Todd’s Paralysis
Post ictal, loss of ability to move post seizure
Adversive seizure
Partial- Neck, head or eyes moving to one side
Febrile seizure
Seizure triggered by high blood temperature
- age related
Gelastic Epilepsy
Laughing
-hypothalamic hamartoma
Temporal Lobe seizure
These effect 60%
Right Frontal Lobe Seizure
Deviation of head and eyes
- Not to be confused with a frontal lobe tumor-
causes personality changes.
Brainstem
Medulla, Pons, Midbrain
