A
A nasogastric tube is inserted through one nostril, down the nasopharynx and into the stomach.

Preparing patient for return to ward:
A
Pt remains in recovery until: Protect own airway Vital signs are stable (similar to pre op) for at least 30 mins Person orientated to time and person Minimal / controlled pain Nausea and vomiting controlled Wound and drains intact
