Acordarse (de)
I remember the day I met you
Recuerdo el día que te conocí.
Me acuerdo del día que te conocí.
Note that Acordarse is followed by “de”, recordar is not.
I don’t recall your name.
No recuerdo tu nombre.
No me acuerdo de tu nombre.
Non reflexive “Acordar” means ….
To Agree or
To Reach an Agreement
Nothing to do with “remember “.
To Remind, as opposed to “to remember”
Recordarse (no “de” ever follows Recordar, the “of” is implied.)
NEVER “Acordarse”
You remind me of my brother.
Me recuerdas a mi hermano.
My sister reminded me to go to the store.
Mi hermana me recordó ir a la tienda.
This food reminds me of my trip to Colombia.
Esta comida me recuerda mi viaje a Colombia.
