Why does a business need to recruit?
No matter what stage a business is at it will need to recruit the best employees with the necessary skills and experience to perform well in various jobs roles within the business.
What and when are the different times a business needs to recruit?
When a business is first established - owner doesn’t have all the skills or doesn’t have time.
When a business grows

When employees leave
Why should a business recruit people when it grows?

Advantages of internal recruitment
Offers employees chance for promotion- motivated and improved there performance
Less risky and expensive- don’t have to spend of advertising or employment agencies
Those appointed will already have knowledge of the business and may need less(no) training
Advantages of external recruitment
External recruits can bring new ideas and positivity into the organisiation
Provides a business with a wider choice of candidates and the chance to appoint the best of the best
Disadvantages of internal recruitment
Business will have limited choice of recruits to choose from. May appoint a less talented person.
Disadvantages of external recruitment
More expensive, especially if recruitment agencies are used.
Employee will be less familiar to the business, creates a greater chance of appointing the ‘wrong’ person.
