    • rebels were executed
  • Wales 1400-1409 (due to legitimacy/support of alternative claimant), led by Owain Glyndwr
    • statutes in Parliament against Wales 1402, eventually Wales was defeated in battle
    • military support from Prince Henry and Hotspur
  • Hotspur 1403 (due to personal grievances)
    • Hotspur was killed in battle (Shrewsbury)

    • mainly defeated by London citizens, but Henry oversaw the executions of rebels in 1451 (‘harvest of heads’)
    • initial delegation against the rebels lead by Archbishop Stafford and Cardinal Kemp)

Edward IV

A
  • Warwick and Clarence 1469-71 (due to personal grievances)
    • Warwick was killed at Barnet (battle), other rebels such as Sir Robert Wells were executed. Clarence pardoned
    • Edward called on Earls of Pembroke and Devon to support him (but they were killed by Warwick)
  • Clarence 1471-78 (more of an overmighty subject, didn’t lead a direct rebellion)
    • charged with treason in Parliament, executed 17 Feb 1478

  • Buckingham 1483 (due to personal grievances, support of alternative claimant Henry Tudor)
    • Buckingham was executed quite swiftly on 2 Nov 1483
    • Lord Howard dealt with Kent rebels while Richard dealt with other rebels

  • Lovell 1486 (due to support of Richard III, personal grievances)
    • Humphrey Stafford was executed while Thomas Stafford was pardoned and made loyal. Lovell fled to Burgundy
  • Simnell 1487 (due to support of alternative claimant/pretender)
    • Simnel was put in the royal kitchen as he was a child, others such as Symonds were imprisoned for life. Lincoln killed at Stoke
  • Warbeck 1491-97 (due to support of alternative claimant/pretender)
    • Warbeck (+ Warwick) executed in 1499, execution of Stanley in 1495 due to being implicated in Warbeck’s cause
    • Sir Richard Clifford likely informed Henry VII as a double agent
  • Yorkshire 1489 (due to high taxation)
    • executed ringleaders, cancelled round of taxation for Yorkshire
    • earl of Surrey was with the king to subdue the rebels
  • Cornwall 1497 (due to high taxation)
    • executed ringleaders, cancelled round of taxation for Cornwall
