Suspension
The spring mount, leaf springs, U-bolt, and shock absorber are checked the same way as those on the front.
Brakes
The air brake hose, brake chamber, push rod and slack adjuster, brake lining, and brake drum are checked the same way as those on the front.
Rims and lug nuts
The rims and lug nuts are checked the same way as those on the front.
Tires
The tires are checked here the same way as on the front, except here the requirement for tread depth is 2/32 of an inch. The duals are evenly spaced, and there is no damage or foreign objects between them.
Hub/axle seal
The hub and axle seal are sealed and not leaking.
Air mounts
Air mounts are securely mounted. There are no loose, broken, or missing bolts. Brackets are not damaged.
Air bag
Air bag is securely mounted and is not damaged or leaking.
Mounting bolts
Fifth wheel is solidly attached, there are no loose or missing nuts, bolts, or brackets.
Platform
Platform is securely mounted to the frame and is not cracked or broken.
Skid plate
Skid plate is securely mounted. There are no missing nuts, bolts, or pins. It is properly greased.
Sliding fifth wheel locking pins
Fifth wheel locking pins are secure and fully engaged. There are no air leaks, and fifth wheel is properly positioned so the rear of the truck doesn’t hit the landing gear in turns.
Trailer apron
Trailer apron is not bent, cracked or broken.
Gap
There is no gap between the trailer and the skid plate.
Kingpin release arm
Kingpin release arm is secure in the locked position.
Kingpin and locking jaws
Locking jaws are fully closed and locked around the kingpin. Kingpin is not bent or damaged.
