Governor cut-out test (SEMI – CIRCLE WINDOW)

Ensure pressure below 90 psi when inspector gets in seat.

“I will do a safety start to charge the air until the governor cuts out.”

Safety start the truck…

“We are on level ground, otherwise, I would chock the wheels.”

Push in parking brake buttons.

Rev engine to 1200 until cut-out.

“Governor has cut out.”

TURN TRUCK OFF, TURN KEY ON.

Applied pressure test (BIG WINDOW)

Rowboat coming through window.

A

“First I’ll do the applied pressure test. I am looking for no more than 4 psi of pressure loss in one minute.“

Hold foot on the brake pedal for one minute.

After minute is over:

“We had no more than 4 psi of loss in one minute.“

Low pressure warning device test (FIREPLACE)

“Next, the low pressure warning device must activate at or above 60 PSI.”

Fan the brakes until both lights turn on.

“The lights came on at 75 PSI.”

Tractor protection valve and parking brake test (MIRROR)

“Next, the tractor protection valve and parking brake should close at approximately 40 psi.”

Fan the brakes until both knobs pop out. Indicate the pressure reading at which each occurs…

“Both valves released at (state pressure), and this concludes my leak down test.”
