What is reactive arthritis?
A
Sterile synovitis developing after a distant infection either post dysentery or following urethritis/cervicitis

What are the risk factors for reactive arthritis?
A
Male, HLA-B27 gene, previous infection

How does reactive arthritis present?
A
Few days - 2 weeks post infection, acute asymmetrical lower limb arthritis develops
Fever, fatigue, weight loss, enthesitis

What are the investigations for reactive arthritis?
A
Serology/microbiology, inflammatory markers raised, possible joint aspiration to rule our septic arthritis

What is the management for reactive arthritis?
A
Treat infection, NSAIDs
Most resolve within 2 years, if not may need DMARDs
