17
Q

Explain how hydrogen is produced during electrolysis of water?

A
  1. An electrical current is put through the water
  2. This splits water into 2H+ and 02- ions
3.The negatives are attracted to the positive anode
  3. At the anode/ cathode either oxidisation or reduction happens
    5.Looses electrons = oxidation
    Gains electrons = reduction
  4. Eg: 2 oxygen - becomes O2 +2e-
