Beliefs
An acceptance in a religious tradition that certain things are true or exist, especially without proof
Myths and sacred stories
An often repeated story that provides explicit or implicit answers to big questions of existence
Sacred text
The texts which various religious traditions consider to be sacred or central to their religious tradition
Symbols
A thing that represents or stands for something else, especially a material object representing something abstract
Ritual
A religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order
Ethics
Moral principles that govern a persons behaviour or the conducting of an activity
Social structure
The social organisation of a religious group constituting an integrated whole

A subjective experience which is interpreted within a religious framework

Differences between rituals in Islam and Catholicism
Islam: obliged to pray 5x a day facing Mecca, instructed by the revelations Muhammad received Allah
Catholicism: Christians do not have the same blight ion but follow the model of Jesus who prayed to his father at various times
Similarities between rituals in Islam and Catholicism
Both have a place to worship their gods (church, mosque)
What does secular mean?
Not connected in any way with spiritual or religious matters
What does pluralist mean
a person who believes that the existence of different types of people, beliefs, and opinions within a society is a good thing

- Same laws for Aboriginals and white+inclusion in census
- 90.77% voted to change the constitution
- didn’t give them the right to vote
- brought the country closer to equality

Why did Hinduism grow so much?
Migration from Sri Lanka and India due to economic and political issues along with better opportunities
What is interfaith dialogue?
Refers to the cooperative, constructive and positive interaction between people of different religions or faiths
Examples of the interfaith dialogue?
Visiting another’s place of pilgrimage
Participating in another’s religious festival
Visiting another’s place of worship
