How does temp affect the rate of reaction
If temperature increases so does the kinetic energy of the particles which increases frequent collisions within a time period. A greater proportion of particles have the necessary activation energy so collisions are more successful
How does pressure/concentration affect rate of reaction
If concentration/pressure is increased amount the of particles in the volume also increase this therefore increases frequent collisions, however increasing concentration doesn’t increase successful collisions as no energy is added
How does surface area affect rate of reaction
An increase in surface area means more particles are available allowing more frequent collisions, however collisions are not more successful
How does adding a catalyst affect reaction rate
A catalyst allows an alternative pathway with lower activation energy this means a larger proportion of particles now have the necessary activation energy, so collisions are more successful but not more frequent
