Random 3 Flashcards
What causes Lucke’s renal cell carcinoma in frogs?
Alloherpesvirus- ranid herpesvirus 1
Where does ranid alphaherpes 1 live and in what species?
Northern leopard frogs; renal convoluted tubules
Pathogenesis of ranid herpesvirus 1 renal adenocarcinoma
Infected when young, latent until 2years, renal carcinomas
Temperature dependent:
Summer- collagenase and metastasis
Winter- INIBs
MCF general histo observed
Kidney: Lymphoproliferation, vasculitis (fibrinoid necrosis), ulcerative mucocutaneous lesions
Bladder: hemorrhagic cystitis
What type of virus is MCF caused by?
Gammaherpesvirus
Characteristic gross lesions with MCF
Corneal edema, lymphadenopathy, exudative dermatitis, bladder hemorrhage
Where does canine herpesvirus go latent?
Trigeminal ganglia
Where does canine herpesvirus replicate?
Cerebellar granule neurons
Key histo with canine herpesvirus 1
Necrosis/hemorrhage in many organs; INIBs in epithelial cells
Key histo with cytomegalovirus (betaherpesvirus)
Cytomegaly, owl eye INIBs
Who gets amdoparvovirus?
Aleutian mink homozygous for aleutian gene or LYST gene defect (chediak higashi)
What do animals with Aleutian mink disease get clinically?
Type III hypersensitivity with ICGN and arteritis
What virus causes FIP?
alphacoronavirus
A weak cell mediated response to FIP is associated with
Type IV hypersensitivity and granulomas (dry)
A lack of cell mediated immunity to FIP is associated with
Type III hypersensitivity and effusion and hypergammaglobulinemia (wet)
