- Split A levels, which provided opportunities to take a broader curriculum and able to see an increase in the working classes reaching and achieveing in post-16 meaning the *aim was to raise standards for everyone *
- this more flexible, broken up process of studying was designed to make workload less stressful and allows students to** understand content in more depth, therefore increasing standards of education **

- proposal to convert schools into academies
- this was with the aim to raise standards as institutions strived towards this
- becoming an academy places funding into the government and local sponsors are ecnouraged to provide aditional funding and schools can become part of an multi academy trust in which several schools create resources and share good prative
- this allows schools more autonomy and control to push for the highest standards
