How do the themes of rage and resentment permeate our culture?
Rage and resentment is a prime motivator (indignation and fear) allows a motive to be justified in society. In a lot of culture, we see them express this. E.g. death penalty. Rage is not bad, resentment is not a bad thing. it’s something that is going to be there in culture. Hence, if we see someone in better circumstances, we feel resentment or rage. It’s something that we can observe in various cultures. There’s always an element of fear, resentment, rage, or any thymotic energy.
What is the Thymos? How do we see thymotic energies in Ancient Greek Narratives?
Odysseus. Prometheus – brought fire to the first human. ANy rage from the gods in ancient Greek are good examples of Tymothic energies.
Why is rage likened to the contemporary monetary and banking systems?
Rage can be accumulated as something as capital. Martyrdom. The kind of resentment to a class or a group– Germany in the second world war against the Jews. Racial resentment– how Filipinos have a love-hate relationship with the Chinese. How certain people in the Philippines coming from different provinces have certain stereotypes.
