To contrast with Plato’s Ideal Republic, what do you think is the “noble lie” in the caste system?
In the Ideal Republic, people are believed that they are born with a specific metal. They have to believe that. Nobody believes it, but they have to for the system to work. Similarly, they have to believe in this caste system to find salvation in these castes.
GUIDE QUESTIONS:
Can social classification provide order in society?
Yes and no. Yes it may bring people order because people compliment. But freewill– why are we doing this? We can’t control how people think and react with certain beliefs they interact with.
GUIDE QUESTIONS:
When is freedom a positive or a negative influence in society?
We want freedom but with less responsibility. Freedom can be a positive trait because it brings about innovation. And no freedom brings uniformity.
