Q

Describe what a grid is and why it is needed in radiology.

What is it?

Why needed?

A

What? grid is a series of lead strips that absorb scatter radiation, placed between patient and the image receiver (over a cassette or in table)

Why? Scatter radiation increases radiation hazards to technicians and patients. Scatter radiation decreases image quality/sharpness

Q

There were four recommendations for the Care of the X-ray Machine discussed in class. Name two.

A
  1. Do not leave the x-ray machine on at all times (turn off when it’s not in use)
  2. Don’t run the “ride the rotor” AKA don’t leave the rotor running too long before taking an image
