radiology Flashcards
1
Q
pneumonia
A
right heart border obscured = right middle lobe pneumonia
left heart border obscured= lingual pneumonia
2
Q
Lobar collapse
A
- obstruction of a lobar bronchus e.g. tumour, aspirated food etc.
- Lobe is no longer ventilated so air is reabsorbed - lobe loses volume and collapses
can see shape of lobe in CXR, in black, and rest is white
3
Q
Pleural effusion
A
Pleural fluid tends to collect at lung bases – forms the curved appearance of a ‘meniscus’ at the lung edges
so at base of lung, can’t see diaphragm, just white at bottom
4
Q
Pneumothorax
A
Small pneumothorax is subtle – dark crescent without lung markings bounded medially by the lung edge, often at the lung apex
no lung markings= so like clearer on one side
