A

Raymond of Toulouse has Albigensians take out his enemies. Pope Innocent III tried to convert the Albigensians, but then a Papal legate was murdered by Raymond on January 12th, 1208. The pope calls for 200,000 French men for the crusade.

How did St. Louis IX die?

A

He loved to go on crusades. The first one he went on was to Egypt, and after getting captured, France paid back half of the ransom to get him back. Although he was freed, he refused to leave until the whole ransom was paid. Then he went on a 2nd crusade in Egypt and there died in battle on August 25th, 1270.

He raised the taxes since the money would go to him instead of the king. Philip responds by raising the taxes 10% more on the priests, knowing that now he’d get 10% of Boniface’s share from the taxes.
