A

Life Expectancy

  • Very useful development indicator as people who live in developed countries have a higher life expectancy.
  • Better health care in developed countries (more doctors and hospitals) result in a higher life expectancy in that area.
  • Higher life expectancy can be caused by a better standard/better care for the elderly in developed countries
  • Access to clean water and sanitation in developed countries, increases life expectancy
  • Poor food supply/famine decreases life expectancy in developing countries

% of People employed in agriculture
- As there a good education and job opportunities in developed countries, there is a low number of people employed in agriculture in these countries.

  • In developing countries there are lots of subsistence farmers who have to grow food to eat
  • As farming is so efficient in developed countries, few farmers are required.
