open questions
those that do not have a fixed answer and produce qualitative data

those that have a fixed range of questions and produce either quantittive data or qualitative data that can be converted to quantitative data
leading question
that which ecourages a specific answer
loaded question
that which contains emotive language that can encourage specific answers
6 strength of questionnaies
- cost effective
- can gather much data quickly
- can be completed without researcher present
- data produced is usually straighforward to analyse, especially if closed questions used
- statistical analysis easier, especially if closed questions
- comparisons b/w groups of people can be made using graphs and acharts
2 weaknesses of questionnaires
- responses may not always be truthful - may present self more positively (social desirability) or under/over-estimate answer
- response bias common - tend to similar answers, such as alwayas ticking yes
