Quantitive Chemistry Flashcards
1
Q
What is relative formula mass
A
The relative atomic masses of all atoms in the molecular formula added together
2
Q
A mixture contains 20% iron ions by mass. What mass of FeCl2 would you need to provide the iron ions in 50g of the mixture
A
50X20/100=10g of iron
Percentage mass of iron=arXnumber of atoms of that element/mr of the compoundX100=44.09%
10/44.90/100=23g
3
Q
How do you calculate theoretical yield
A
Calculate the moles by doing mass/Mr of each and then whatever the limiting reactant is that is how many moles are produced and from this you can do MrXMoles to work out mass
4
Q
Equation involving mass/volume concentration and moles
A
Concentration=moles/volume
