Path formation of platelet microthrombi, schistocytes. Seen in TTP and HUS. Skin and mucosa bleeds, fever, renal insuff (HUS) and CNS abnorm (TTP)

Lab = inc bleed time, norm PT/PTT, schistocytes

Decreased ADAMSTS13, skins bleeds, vWF multimer has faulty degradation leading to abnorm platelet adhesion. Usually due to acquired autoAb.
