Quality Of Design Flashcards
Design of experiments
A series of techniques which involve the identification and control of parameters which have a potential impact on the performance and reliability of a product design and/or the output of a process, with the objective of optimising product design, process design and process operation, and limiting the influence of noise factors.
The full factorial method
Considers all combinations of the factors which are being tested
The fractional factorial method
To overcome the disadvantage of the number of trials necessary in a full factorial design, fractional factorial designs are used where the chosen fraction of the full design gives an even and balanced spread throughout all the factors being studied.
Failure mode and effects analysis
A systematic and analytical quality planning tool for identifying, at the product, service and process design, and development stages, what might potentially go wrong, either with the product, or with the provision of a service, thereby aiding fault diagnosis.
