Quality Flashcards
What are the 3 processes in the Quality Mgmt KA?
- Plan Quality Mgmt
- Perform Quality Assurance
- Control Quality
In what process group is Perform Quality Assurance?
Executing
What is the Rule of Seven?
Heuristic: non-random group of data that total seven on one side of the mean but not outside of control limits indicate not a random process - out of control
Explain Cost of Quality (CoQ)?
Comparison of costs of conformance and non-conformance to quality standard; cost of conformance should be lower
What are the seven basic quality tools?
- cause and effect diagram (Ishikawa fishbone w/ effect at head)
- Pareto diagram
- histogram
- control chart
- scatter diagram
- flowchart
- checksheet
How does a fishbone diagram help PM understand a quality problem?
look backward at what may have contributed to quality problems
What are the principal advantages of using a Pareto diagram?
- help focus attention on the most critical issues
* prioritize potential “causes” of the problems
Explain the difference between tolerances and control limits?
- tolerances are what is acceptable
* control limits vary from 3 to 6 Sigma
Differentiate between control limits and specification limits?
specification limits come from the customer, as opposed to being a general process limit
Explain design of experiments (DOE)?
statistical approach to determining which variables will improve quality (best combo of tires and suspension)
In which process is CoQ?
PQM
Quality metrics are an output of which process?
PQM
Why is gold plating potentially a problem?
- It may or may not provide a benefit
* contrast with positive risk (opportunity) and how that would be handled
what is conformance work?
actions related to prevention and inspection
what is nonconformance work?
work done to deal with the consequences of errors and failures and doing activities correctly on the first attempt
Will approach a zero in efficient systems
