Why use qualitative research?

A

Qualitative research seeks to document individual perspectives, experiences, thoughts and behaviours – some of these can’t necessarily be in a normal distribution (i.e can’t be quantified); qualitative research can be used to explore the needs of a certain community or ethnic group; some things can’t be quantified; allows for a complex understanding of an issue; may tackle a sensitive research topic; uses transformative worldviews (i.e emphasis on activism and transformation).

A
