Q5 (Phases Of Hemostasis) Flashcards
1
Q
What are the phases of hemostasis?
A
Platelet plug formation
Coagulation
Clot retraction
Thrombolysis
2
Q
What happens during vascular spasm?
A
Blood vessel vasoconstricts and flow through the injured vessel is decreased
3
Q
What occurs during platelet plug formation?
A
- The injury exposes collagen fibers that lead to the production of vWF
- vWF binds and activates platelets causing them to stick to the collagen fibers
- Activated platelets attract more platelets which will aggregate and form a plug
